The 16-year-old from Jammu and Kashmir, has won three medals in total. Sheetal earned silver in the women’s doubles and gold in the compound mixed team event earlier this week.
Adolescent armless archer Sheetal Devi won the top prize in the women’s individual compound event on Friday, making history as the first Indian woman to win two gold medals in one Asian Para Games competition.
Balancing her bow with her foot, she has won three medals in total. Sheetal earned silver in the women’s doubles and gold in the compound mixed team event earlier this week.
In July, Sheetal became the first armless woman to win a medal at the Para World Archery Championships. She was found at a military camp in a remote section of Kishtwar and adopted by the Indian Army when she was a little girl. She defeated Singapore’s Alim Nur Syahidah 144-142 in the gold medal match.
Business magnate Anand Mahindra posted on X how the archer who triumphed against all obstacles and brought pride to India inspires him. In a touching gesture, Mahindra promised to provide the player a customized car as a token of his support.

Prathamesh Jawker, who was competing for the silver medal in the Archery World Cup Final in Hermosillo, Mexico, lost to another 20-year-old, Mathias Fullerton of Denmark, in the compound men’s individual title match.
Both archers hit the “X” in a dramatic shoot-off that saw Jawkar lose 148–148, although the Danish player rode his luck to fire closer to the centre.
In a shoot-off, archer Rakesh Kumar prevailed 144(10)–144(9) against Iran’s Alisin Manshaezadeh to take home the silver medal in the men’s compound event.
